What is this?

So I originally thought walnut, but the leaves look too big. When the leaves are crushed they do have a walnut type of husk scent. I do have other walnut trees on my property but didn’t know if I should plant this or if not is a weed.

Butternut? Where are you located?

western pa. Is it worth keeping?

I'm going with some sort of hickory. Is the nut still there at the base by chance?

Wait, is butternut a hickory? 😂

That is a possibility too. no nut near the base, but maybe buried. When I transplant it I will look. TY

I'm backing up. There is more texture to the leaflets than I am seeing with most hickories.

I had a few butternut trees at my past home. They were nice trees and a bit of an odd species in some locals. The squirells certainly liked them.

That sure looks like it. Ty

Looks like butternut to me. I have a few here in northwestern PA, also.
I keep mine.
I figure, if a squirrel eats a butternut or walnut, then maybe it saves an acorn for a deer. 😁
