Grafting Persimmons step by step

Catscratch

5 year old buck +
A few years ago I planted 25 seedlings from Kansas Forestry. I think it's time for me to learn grafting. I've watched several video's but want to ask you experts also.
Step by step. Include when and how to collect scion wood. Pretend I'm a complete idiot and don't know what I'm doing. edit - you may not have to pretend...

Hard to beat that technique, above... it pretty well maximizes cambium contact.
I do a simple bark graft, and get acceptable results. The modification in that article above probably makes a slightly stronger graft, early on, so less likely to blow out or break out during the first growing season.

That said, before anyone told me that persimmons were hard to graft (they're not, really), the first ones I did were just a simple whip/splice graft, just like I'd taught myself to do on apples. I got 2 out of 2 (100%!) takes that year.
