Is This Fireblight on Apple Tree?

The weather in the South this spring has been perfect for fireblight. I've seen a tiny bit on one 15 year old tree that has never shown it before. A couple of other trees that are MS to FB are also showing some. The bad thing is that it can get worse (depending on the weather) even well into...

Is This Fireblight on Apple Tree?

Yes it is. However, if it doesn't get any worse you need not worry. PS - Granny Smith is VS to fireblight.

Whats up with the leaves on my pear treess?

I've never seen those mites here, and I'm only aware of them vicariously, What I've read is that they seldom kill a tree. If you remove too many leaves that isn't going to be good either. I just zoomed in and looked at your picture closer. My recommendation would be to leave it alone unless it...

Whats up with the leaves on my pear treess?

Looks like blister mite. If the tree is small, the best thing to do is remove the affected leaves and burn them. If you had a strong magnifying glass you could probably see the mites.

    I like Black Oxford

Unfortunately, my Black Oxford went down in the severe storm we had two years ago. I tried setting it back up and bracing it, but with the heat of the hot summer and drought it didn't survive. Since that time I have only planted some Blue Hill trees and haven't replaced it. Perhaps in the...

    Habitat out loud

That's a good looking Job. I'm also planting and caging RODs now. My intent is to get them established well in the cages and then move the cages to new locations. If the birds will help, that will be good too. The birds single handedly have got arrowwood virbunums planted everywhere for me...

There I was, minding my own business when ...

I make them the same size as for apples - about 3 feet diameter or maybe a little smaller. Normally a deer won't browse or rub a persimmon tree, but if one is out in the open, it's best not to take any chances. If a fruit tree is planted within 15 inches or so from a barbed wire fence line, I...

There I was, minding my own business when ...

I was walking by one of my native female persimmons recently and noticed two nice root sprouts about knee high coming out of the ground about 10 feet out from the main tree. I took a shovel and dug both sprouts with big root balls and transplanted them to new locations. I had a cage handy for...

No Such Thing As No Spray Apple

I’m glad I can get good fruit without spraying. If I had to spray this pear tree I would need a helicopter. It is 44 feet tall and 32 feet wide.
