I dont think the leaves look quite right for Verbena. I can't i.d that one, hopefully it is beneficial and non-invasive!

    Blackberries?

Interesting in that I just read an article tonight about people mixing products like photosynthetic inhibiting herbicides with glyphosate, because it makes them feel better that they can actually see a negative plant response from the spraying faster (wilting). However, often times the mixing...

    Blackberries?

When did you spray them? I have some random plants that I would like to kill off, but always a little concerned with collateral damage whenever someone mentions 24D.

    Burn Workshops .... Kansas folks

Saw this pop up earlier tonight on Facebook. If someone in KS is still looking for a class to take.

    New House Build

Finally got rolling on the wall framing today. Rain showers have not been our friend and then my framing help had other obligations 1 day when I really hoped we would be working on ours.

    Blackberries?

You need to hit them 2 or more times during a single growing season. Growing season fire and herbicide. Mowing and then herbicide. A single attack per season will not be successful. You have to deplete the energy reserves in the root system. We have lots of wild blackberries here both at the...

    Bale Blind question

I would assume that the OP is not leaving the blind out year round. Maybe so.... though I would think the canvas shell would be rotted after a few years as well. I have put a blind covered with Fast Grass right next to real bales and had deer within 30 yards of me on the same day.

    Bale Blind question

We have used Fast Grass (duck blind camo) before and it holds up pretty nicely.

    New House Build

We fell short of getting all the subfloor down yesterday. Had just enough of the Advantech flooring with damage to the tongue and groove that we had to monkey with fixing that it slowed us down.

The Land of Milk and Honey

I got the parts for my 1230 JD planter that I picked up last year yesterday. I should be able to plant 4 rows now instead of 2 now.... LOL I am looking forward to the day I can no-till plant. My oats that I planted earlier this Spring look to be about the right height now to terminate and plant...

Sweet advent pear tree not looking so hot.

More than likely. Could be herbicide damage, but highly unlikely only 1 tree would be affected. You will know as time goes on.

Most of the trusses are 19.2" oc. Leave it up to some pencil pushing engineer to figure out the spacing..... sometimes we just shrug and say WTF was that guy thinking as there was probably a better and more efficient way to lay out something. But they go by what the computer tells them and...

    New House Build

Steel beams can be more shallow (more head room) we have 9' walls. Our beams are 10" tall. To span the same distance would require bigger dimensional lumber. Where the beams are there are large open areas where there will not be walls to carry the upstairs load. The beams are carrying our...

    New House Build

I think straight out GC fees vary anywhere from 6% to 25% of the cost of the build. Keep in mind that is just the straight out fee. You can save yourself additional money by willing to shop the pieces and parts for the build. A GC has no incentive to do that if they are doing your build.... the...

    New House Build

Good progress on day 2. Not sure what tomorrow will bring, wish I could say we are going to get all the subfloor down, but unless the nails show up early that won't be the case. Supplier didnt have them and then thought they would substitute a product that I am not willing to accept without...

    New House Build

Off and going. A good start today. Would have made it farther along, but the "Beast" blew a hydraulic line in the midst of setting the steel beams. Hopefully we get back on a good roll tomorrow. Got the load bearing walls in the basement framed today. Goal for tomorrow is to finish the sill...
