    Another DR apple

I was just reading about a newer DR apple variety - "RubyRush." Adams County Nursery has it in their catalog, and says it's a cross between Enterprise and Goldrush. Highly resistant to scab, and excellent resistance to CAR and FB too. Just passing along that info - I'm not affiliated with ACN...

    Your best fall mix?

Rain's been scarce in our camp's area the last couple July & August periods, too. We seed & hope. Summer thunderstorms can be so localized, and they seem to miss the camp too often. Rye & clover to the rescue!

    My “Happy Accident” plot!

Austrian winter peas will come back in the spring? What would be your recommended awnless winter grain?? Learning here ..........

Stock Market is the bottom in?

Just read an article from Forbes. It said that the latest economic data released this morning, showed that core inflation has hit its lowest point in 3 years in April. It quoted a gentleman by the name of Eugenio Aleman, Chief Economist for Raymond James investment managers as saying, " ...

Stock Market is the bottom in?

An American president can tell India or any other country "don't do this", or "we'd like you to do that" - but they don't have to obey. And in many cases they don't, so to not look like a puppet to their own people. How many times over our history have U.S. presidents given "political cover" to...

    Your best fall mix?

Learned this from guys on here a few years back. Lickcreek, and Wild Thing come to mind - along with several others. They were correct! In our area, we seed turnips & radishes 3rd week of July. Some of those PTT bulbs get eaten by camp members.

Later to Leaf out / later to bloom Apples.

I believe Turning Point's mother tree is from up there with you in N.Y. Ryan (of Blue Hill) got the scion from up there.

    Crabapple timeline

Our Violi's hasn't set the world on fire. It's growing, but it's been a slow go. It does get shaded by some big pines in the morning - that may be the reason. Not cutting it down though.

Stock Market is the bottom in?

I agree with you 100% on elected officials owning stock. Too easy to get inside info / possibly manipulate stocks by passing or shooting down bills that effect companies. I also agree with you that if the suits that start wars had to get on the front lines themselves & face bullets, mortars...

Stock Market is the bottom in?

I'm not angry or feeling argumentative, friend - just sharing some info. We aren't in a recession - by anyone's measure. Almost all investment managers say we avoided one, and they don't think we'll have one. Jobs are plentiful, consumer spending has been steady, and the stock market's ups &...

Mixed clovers, rye grain, with some Groundhog radishes & PTT thrown in.

Thanks for that info. Had to laugh ..... I mix things too sometimes - even when that wasn't my intention! Good looking plot.

Anything I can do to help new trees survive being chewed on by caterpillars?

Just for spot spraying. Don't you have to apply BT before any bugs show up?? (and to all your trees?) Never used BT, but I know it's a natural bacteria / pest contagion.

Stock Market is the bottom in?

Calling energy and food volatile isn't my word - it's from those in the investment / economic spheres. And it is not an elitist sleight-of-hand trick either - through both R & D administrations, energy and food prices have been separated from "core inflation" numbers. You can't change history &...

Stock Market is the bottom in?

Name-calling. ^ ^ ^ And yes - core inflation is about 3%, which has never included the volatile prices of energy and food. Those 2 sectors are subject to weather, global instability, transportation cost fluctuations - more so than the other factors that make up the core inflation numbers. The...

Stock Market is the bottom in?

Buffet said he likes how Powell is handling things. Said Powell is "a very smart man." Our economy is part of the global economy, so many factors enter play on the U.S. economy - and vice-versa. I can tell you gents, that with the daily reading I do on many investment sites, the global...

Stock Market is the bottom in?

I only quoted what Bill Gross said. I don't know what his views on future interest rates are / will be. Personally, I don't think rates will come down quickly. If that happened, I think things would overheat rapidly. I don't have the insider knowledge / experience Gross has. I only know he said...

Stock Market is the bottom in?

No doubt a stock Peter Lynch would love for a "5 or 10-bagger." I've studied Chipotle a bit, and it's said repeat/return customer base is thick. As you said above, it sells itself. Wish I'd have noticed it after the IPO!!!
