As a newcomer trying to get stuff in the ground while I’m still relatively young and before my kids start hunting, I’m super thankful it still happens!
You are the man! Any Dolgo scions you could throw in with those for me too? Man, there is a lot of kindness and sharing on this site its nice to see. I ponied up for 20 rootstocks and I have some others already growing and I can't wait for the spring to start grafting. I got my first grafting...
Yes, it’s not full size so theoretically will make less fruit at maturity and bears are harder on on. Anecdotally I have read from those who have both that M111 has a lower growth vigor than dolgo or antonovka but I’m sure that is heavily site dependent . Still seems like a solid choice for sure
I can cage them, weed mat them, tube them, but not reliably water…. That’s why I was thinking fall planting may give me a better shot at establishment vs spring

I have a cell link and it’s ok for very specific situations but the SPYPOINT cameras are much better to run than trying a traditional camera with cell-link
wow, just read all 37 pages of this thread. Crazy to see Ed (or Matt's) journey from building the nursery and doing some grafts to huge tubs of apples and scaling down after a couple hundred trees in the ground. I did my first grafts of my life this summer on persimmon and I think I am hooked...
Thanks that is helpful, I think it’s probably outside of my control. I believe all these trees are orange when ripe in past years but I did think about that. I think they are too small to be mature as well and the animals arent really touching them so I would wager that they are premature. So...
