An apple tree that i started from seed 4 or 5 years ago is going to have some blossoms this year, much sooner than i was expecting! This is one of two seedling trees that i have let grow, all others have been topworked.

I dug up the rootstocks that i grew from cuttings from last years rootstocks these are m111, after cutting to graft i simply stick the cuttings in a jar with water in the bottom, when I'm done grafting i dip the cut ends in rooting hormone and stick in a raised bed, i get about half that grow...
Winter bannana already huge, hopefully this tree was labled properly, i have some bagged but this one never was and is nearly spotless so far.

I started this pear from seed 3 years ago, my dad sent me cuttings from a tree in his yard in Iowa back to Pa, his name is Terry, so I named the pear "Terry Peary " one of the pictures below is one he sent me last year, he says it bears this heavy every year.
The graft is in its 3rd year on 4...
I dug this liberty on mm111 from my raised bed today, my grafts are never the prettiest when grafted, but seem to heal over nice.

I am going to try a stool bed with 3 mm111 rootstocks that I planted last spring, at what stage do I cut the original trees off, at bud break? Before bud break? Should I cut them off flush or a few inches above the ground?
Thank you!
Ben

I have been topworking wild pears for a few years here, we have an overload of them in a 10 acre patch I would guess there are 60 to 80 trees. They are not callery pears but possibly crosses.
The deer love them, but unfortunately most are gone by bow season, so I have been grafting some over to...
While putting some window screen on some trees today, I noticed one out of three bud grafts that I did on this tree in August '17 still looks alive, and scratch test shows green, why didn't this bud grow? The other two failed as well, but just look like a scar on the tree.

My son started this peach tree from a pit, he planted it under a hickory tree at the edge of the woods probably 4 years ago.
The year after he planted the pit he said there was a tree that came up, and sure enough there was, it literally stayed the size of one of the upper branches In the...
I notice a lot of the BOB brassica mixes have sugar beets in them, how much growth do they get when late summer planted? How are late planted beets utilized compared to turnips and radishes? Are beets cold hardy like a turnip, I never plan on growing full season sugar beets, just wondering if...
I have sold around 20 potted trees and will be getting them to people next weekend. This week looks like, freezing temps at night and daytime highs in the 40s some nights into the mid to lower 20 's. This morning just the top inch was frozen, should I bring them into my unheated basement for...
This pear tree is loaded every year and drops some of the pears on to the berm, I picked this one off of the roadside last evening, I grafted this pear two years ago, should be a very good deer pear because of the size and drop time, not to bad tasting, a little tart but sweet almost a lemon...
I collected some chestnuts today from one of my sportsman's clubs trees. They are just starting to fall, I would like to direct sow them into raised beds and have bareroot trees next fall or the following spring.
I tried this past season, and failed miserably, I only sprouted two trees, I had...
This is a pear tree in my dad's yard in Iowa, I had him send me scion to Pa two years ago and have topworked several trees and grafted some to seedlings. He says it is loaded like this every year? Kieffer?
He took these pictures for me Sunday.
