This - It is virtually impossible to influence the genetics in a wild, free ranging deer here. As others have mentioned, you really have no idea what that buck will develop into until at least age 3 or more likely 4. If he still looks like that when he is a 4 year old, go ahead an whack...
I mentioned above that I found a 3/16 X 1 1/2" roll pin but it was really too short to be able to get a good grip on it...
Finally I found some 3/16" X 2" stainless roll pins at Ace Hardware and they are just what the Dr ordered so I bought 3 of them. Yes, a bent nail will work if you have one...
Do you test the batteries on a volt meter when you install them in your cameras? The energizer lithiums almost always test out at 1.77 or 1.78 V on new batteries. If they don't then something is amiss.
I am not a Sam's Club member but a friend of mine is. He ordered 4 - 18 packs of AA Energizer Lithiums for me. With 6% sales tax it came to $148.32 - $2.06 each and free shipping. That is the best price I was able to find but it is what it is.
They are the best camera batteries out there...
Agree homerj - I would have estimated him to be at least 4 or 5 also. He is a full grown brute…with probably less than stellar antlers. Still - a very mature deer.
Yes - It depends upon the application rate. Generally speaking 2 weeks if you applied 2-4,D at 1 Pint per acre or 4 weeks if you applied at 1 Quart per acre.
In a nutshell....it was disappointing WJ. Not that I believe that the Glufosinate didn't do its job, but in the sense that under the circumstances I used it in - it was at a distinct disadvantage.
If you recall, I used the Glufosinate where I had great plots of alfalfa/clover which had been...
Not really. My soil is a clay/loam soil which can get semi "hard" when dry. I also have a lot of rocks in it, although I do try to get as many of them out as I can when opening up new plots. The rocks just about demolished my first disc when I was still turning dirt, but when planting with my...
Just saw this thread today. Yes - I almost always buy bulk seed and mix it myself....doing it the hard way still. I weigh it out and mix it by hand. Small seed I juggle between 5 gallon pails. Larger seed I mix in pails and then in a large tub. It does take some time and effort but it...
If there is no moisture in the soil and you don't expect rain for another 7-10 days, the seed isn't going to germinate anyway so there probably isn't any hurry to get the seed in the ground. It will grow just as fast if you drill it in 7-10 days when you do expect some rain.
It probably won't...
My drill would have zero issues drilling into that type of thatch. I agree that you can just drill your seed and be done. If you want it to look real pretty you could mow it either before or after drilling the seed, but truthfully....the deer won't care one way or the other. I usually roll my...
The really big ones we pushed out of the plot with a dozer. The rest of them that don't pop up with the cultivator, I dig out with the front end loader bucket. Most of the time we can roll them into the bucket. If they are too big for that, I push them off to the side with the bucket.
Dig em...
Yes - Clethodim is a grass-specific herbicide so it only kills grasses. 2-4,DB is for treating broadleaf weeds in clovers and alfalfa. It will not kill grasses, but it will kill broadleaf plants other than clovers or alfalfa. You can use the Clethodim in your brassicas to kill grasses if you...
