I can assure you tournament fishing is more work than most would imagine. This will be my last tournament baring Logan needing a partner until September/October. Lake Lanier is known as the Atlanta Ocean for a reason, and I would rather be in the salt water if I'm fighting that crap.
Well, we pulled it off, but it was a grind and it was close. Weigh in was @ 3, and @ 2 we only had 14#. Found two good windblown points with small flats that had some better fish on them and we were able to cull our two small fish, and made a slight upgrade on another. Ended up with 18.57 and...
I need to look into that method, but doubt I will ever not use the string method.
Logan won another tournament today. Hope to repeat tomorrow with me in the boat to make it 4 in a row.
This was shared on another forum that I visit and is how I do bark grafts. If done at the right time, I have had 95% plus success. Note that I use what I have on hand and have never used a grafting knife despite grafting who knows ow many trees.
The women or the crimson clover?
Not quite ready to nuke the current Durana yet, but I would expect it would take 2-3 years of nuking it based on what is left in the seed bank. That said, I am prepping a new Durana plot in my dunstan/apple/pear/persimmon orchard. I will only sling Durana...
Cut down three dead ones and one that looked bad that I had marked. Ended up grafting two older ones in the pasture with Deer Magnet and Deer Candy that were both about 10-12" in diameter. Also checked my chestnuts and all are loaded with tassels, so should be a good year for them.
Here are...
Probably should have done it but felt like I was a week or so early. Unfortunately two of my marked trees have died, and one of the others is not looking great. They have wet feet where they are, so not sure how long they will last. Will try again in a couple weeks.
My pears and apples...
So I looked back and it was 14 years ago. Just going to bark graft some over sized male trees in the pasture and see if I can find some smaller ones to graft.
Been a while since I have grafted anything (~20 years) but plan to graft some persimmons tomorrow. Have my scion soaking and everything ready to load up in the morning. Will post pics and hopefully progress in the near future.
I did as well and foolishly sold my place to get the kids in better schools, but that was 25 years ago. It has changed so much with the blue back introduction. You mentioned spy baits so it was a recent departure for you. I should have kept my place and just bought another place in a better...
Just popped it out and kept on fishing once I got it to stop bleeding. If y'all have never used the string method to remove a hook, you need to learn how to do it. It wouldn't have been so bad had the fish quit flopping around while we were hooked together. Just thankful Logan was with me to...
If you get squeamish at the sight of blood, go ahead and close this one.
Logan and I went to Lanier yesterday and had a great time with one exception. Started out fishing main lake and I caught the first one of the day on a jerk bait. Logan missed a few on a worm, but connected on the third...
Last year I ran one camera on my property from I think September through mid January. I did not run and cams on the other property I hunt until after the season was over, and then for only one month. I will do the same this year, with the exception that I may run one on both properties...
