I have a few acres of field that are currently being farmed in beans. I'd like to take this field out of production and allow it to become deer habitat. My issue is that this field has always had a marestail (aka horse weed) problem. So if I just let it go, it will be taken over by mares tail...
I'm considering putting a pond on my farm. I have an area that is about 0.4 acre, round in shape. I'd like to plant a band of clover around a pond that is roughly 80 feet in diameter. How deep should I make it? Wouldn't mind having some fish in it, but that's not a must. Would I have to aerate it?
Here's what I'd like (trees are for deer):
Trees must be very resistant to CAR
Some early, mid and late droppers
Low maintenance
Need to match up with good polinators
Please name a tree and a good polinator for it. Crabs are acceptable.
Thanks!
I have a number of chestnut seedings that range from 8" tall to 18" tall. I'd like to see them a bit bigger before I plant them permanently. They are currently potted. What should I do with them over winter? Plant them in a temporary, protected spot until they get bigger?
Selling my DR pull behind mower for use on ATVs, UTVs or tractor with ball hitch. Nice working condition. Stored inside. No rust. Kawasaki 17 hp engine. Includes extra throttle control cable and engine maintenance kit. SW PA. $1250.
Some of my apples are showing signs of cedar apple rust. There are some small cedars within about 30 yards of the apple trees. Should I cut these cedar trees down, or if there are cedars within, say, a half mile will it still have the same effect on the apples?

Anyone in the midwest (I'm in Ohio) plant brassicas in early September and get good results? Seems about a month late to me, but I'm seeing this recommended more and more.
Is having a 3 year old apple tree with co-dominant leaders a viable option, or do I just bite the bullet and cut one of them off? It will literally take off half of the tree.
