I'm from IL and my 2 cents is this, you could already use a xbow if you were under 16, over 65 or had a disability, and just a couple years ago they let everyone use one after our 2nd gun season(ended the sunday after thanksgiving) so they didn't just open xbow just expanded it a little. I know...
I have a gas golf cart lifted with bigger tires on it, you would be surprised what they do. Mine has a flip up rear seat that can ride 4 or be a bed. We have some pretty good hills on our ground and it will haul 4 adults up them no problem. Also a whole lot cheaper than a utv.
My son and I went to our ground Sunday morning, started off with a coyote calling set, called one in but missed. Followed that up with frost seeding our clover plots, then got the 3 cameras we still had up( the deer are hammering the winter wheat right now), trimmed up some apple tree's, went to...
Hey Steve was just reading the "ever hire a consultant post" and was wandering if you still did your map evaluations? And what you charge for the evaluation? If you still do them and are interested in looking at our property could you email me at scott@holthaustruck.com or feel free to text/call...
I agree with Jeff, I have made 6 box blinds on our property, 5 are 6X6 and work great for 2 people and 1 person bowhunting, you shouldn't have much waste at all. I would recommend making your side walls at least 6"6" tall so you can stand and stretch without hitting your head, also at 6' wide...
I'll second MObuck, look on your local craigslist, atv's can be had very reasonable and I have a gas golf cart that we run all over our property on, get the conversion kit to put a flip rear seat and you can put 4 people on no problem. Should be able to get both of these for 1/2 of a new utv.
My son, my friend and I were down at our hunting ground(southern IL) last weekend 11-13, one of us saw a nice buck every hunt except Sunday night.
My friend had 4 bucks chasing a doe Friday morning, 2 bucks chasing a doe Friday evening in a different spot, I had a big 10 follow a doe across a...
A lot of the bullet companies make a thinner plastic that loads easier, Hornady is the low drag, Barnes is T-EZ, I think the shockwaves are easy slides, try one of these brands should fix your problem
I have never used any of these products, but decide to give it a try. Did some research on Heater Body suit and the IWOM body suit, decided to order the IWOM just for the fact you can put it on while on the ground then climb into your stand. It arrived yesterday, after putting it on a few times...
Not sure how accessible your ground is, but we had a old job site trailer hauled in, put a deck on it and some metal skirting around the bottom, worked well. I've seen them 12 to 14' wide and anywhere from 30-45' long, most are finished on the inside and have some sort of heating/cooling unit on...
Illinois, been to WY 3 times rifle hunting but my son is 13 now and loves bowhunting so no need to leave IL in November. When he gets out of high school I would like to have a place to take him along.
Has anyone done a DIY hunt out west for mule deer or whitetail. I was doing some looking around yesterday and it looks like there is quite a bit of public ground in Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming. I saw Nebraska archery tags are over the counter, not sure about CO or WY. Any good or bad...
