My youngest son Jacob and I hunt a property at our work that is in the deer reduction zone. We both arrowed nice bucks this year.
My oldest son Caleb and I both were fortunate enough to take nice bucks during firearms at my place.
Also, we've killed 3 coyotes while on stand. I like killing...
My son in law is stationed at the Pentagon, so my wife and I traveled to DC for Thanksgiving this year. Saw all the monuments which was great. I was stationed at HQMC Arlington in 1987 so this was a cool trip back.
Passed on a couple nice bucks this season, just not quite mature enough. Was fortunate to get on this buck December 1st. 17 degree crisp morning, 25 yards broadside.
My son Jake shot his buck November 7th, second time on stand. Praise the Lord for another great season!
Note to JBird: This is...
Youngest son Jake and I took vacation. Had a fantastic opening day here in Indiana. Birds gobbling on the roost, the woods coming alive, deer everywhere and toms on the ground. Oldest son still hunting, cross your fingers. Praise the Lord for another beautiful day in his creation!
The last half of 2021 has been a rough patch at home. My wife had cancer surgery and treatments in October. My brother in law passed away in November. My mom passed away this week. We will have joy and we will know sorrow. I'm thankful my wife is on the mend, that I had the chance to canoe and...
I dedicated this bow season to my brother in law who passed away last week. Arrowed this buck the first bow hunt after the funeral. Life is short, enjoy God's blessings. Praise the Lord for another fantastic hunt!
There was snow on the ground opening morning, but by afternoon it had all melted off. Fortunately this tom showed up checking out the decoys. Gobbled 3 times on the way in. Praise the Lord for another beautiful day!
Great hunt this weekend. No gobbles on the roost, cold and quiet. Soft called early, let out a few yelps later and heard him gobble. Came right in, full strut, gorgeous sight.
My sons and I had a very successful shed hunt but unfortunately found a few dead heads. 2 were really nice. You hate to see it, but that is part of nature.
I was issued an M16 when I was in the Marine Corps. Always liked the AR style rifles. Made it my goal this year to shoot a buck with my AR10. This afternoon a couple nice bucks were bird dogging a doe all over the woods. Finally got one to stop long enough for a shot.
Indiana has deer reduction zones where you must first shoot a doe, then you "earn" an extra buck tag for the DRZ. Shot this doe yesterday evening in the wildlife habitat where I work. Must admit, my heart was racing when she came in. Double lung, ran 40 and piled up. First kill of the archery...
Habitat members, I want to fill a tractor from 5 gallon fuel cans with a transfer pump while leaving the cans on the ground. Plenty of options lifting the jug equal to the height of the tractor hood, but I don't want to do that, even using the loader. Need to be able to pump to a height of 5...
Great morning, lots of activity. Had several does work their way towards a plot clearing 100 yards from my stand. This buck was sparring with an 8 pointer and ran him off. Had plenty of time to get ready as this buck worked his way into my shooting lane. Nothing better than being in the woods...
I shot a doe earlier this season in the DRZ. This allowed me to "earn a buck". Connected on a nice 10 pointer. Very fortunate to have this spot to hunt.
