Hi all - I'm looking for a little help. A few years ago on that other forum, someone posted a link to look up what payments were made to individuals for CRP, CREP, etc. Some of you might remember it ... someone posted it to show that Duffy and his family had been paid 1 million in subsidies...
Well guys, I made it. Last payment was Monday, after 13-1/2 years. I made a video about it, if you have 12 minutes and you're REALLY bored, you can give it a watch.
Hi all! This Spring I plan to plant fruit trees in my best spot and I'd like your help narrowing down my choices. I have planted apple and pear trees for the past 3 years, but I deliberately left this spot alone until I learned with practical experience. Now that I'm fairly confident I can...
Rocky Mountain National Park plants bear poop.

I like it! Pretty much how nature intended. I have planted persimmon seeds from poop piles before.
I went to the "farm" yesterday to check out the pear/apple trees I planted last Spring. 13 out of 14 have leaves on them, I'm happy with that ratio. There are also several blossoms, which I picked off, looking for roots and wood again this year! Here are some pics I snapped.
This crabapple...

I haven't checked into it yet. I'm curious what species are included, that link warns of possible invasives. If you know about this program, I'd appreciate your thoughts.
Tonight, the Google Earth photos in my area were updated. I've been staring at the Sept 2013 pic for, well, over 3 years!! Haha! I'm going nuts, its my Christmas morning!!
I'm looking for a good quality water pump to fill a barrel to take around and water fruit trees. There are 2 old wells that usually have water, but I might need to pump from the old dirty pond sometimes. It won't be used a lot, but I want to get something that will work when I need it, with...
I was out 2 weeks ago mowing the planting spots for my fruit trees. I spotted this antler just in time to get the tractor stopped and avoid puncturing that tire! Luckily I was paying attention!
I went to check on the 14 apple, crab, and pear trees from Turkey Creek, planted 2 weeks ago. Every tree is leafing out and 4 or 5 had blooms on them. Check out this Seckel pear!
Here is a video of a moose shedding an antler. Kinda neat so I thought I would share.

Do these things really go for this much money? I've got just under $3000 in my Ford tractor, bush hog, 2 bottom plow, 8 ft disk, PTO spreader, post hole digger, rear blade, and boom pole. I'm on the lookout for a 2 row planter and I should...
I have to force myself not to consider buying a tractor like this, because I don't need it. I could easily talk myself into buying this ... I'm pretty gullible. Haha! Looks like a good tractor to me.

(Not mine, I do not know the seller)
Last weekend I planted about an acre in corn, last year's RR seed given to me by a friend of the family farmer. I knew I planted too much, I broadcast it with the spreader on my tractor. Since then we have had perfect rain and warm weather. Now I think it will be far too thick and all of the...
Hey guys, I thought some of you might be interested in this site I stumbled upon a little while back. It is called FarmLogs.com. I initially went there because they said they had soil type info. Well, they don't have anything more than your County Soil Report or any other source you might...
I planted my apples from Turkey Creek Trees about a month ago. They have leaves all up and down the tree. Do I leave these on all year? I know I don't want branches that low, but I don't know the proper time I should take them off.
Anything else I need to do this first year?
Thanks!
